Public Information Meeting #1
Public Information Meeting #1 took place on July 28, 2021 and was virtually conducted to encourage maximum participation during the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting included a 45-minute presentation to review the Pulaski Road Corridor Study’s background, public outreach strategy, existing conditions, design alternatives for consideration, and next steps. Attendees participated throughout the presentation via polling, and a live question-and-answer session followed the presentation. Community members were also able to submit questions prior to the meeting as well as up to 3 weeks after the meeting. Please see the video below for the presentation’s recording.

Design Alternatives
Pulaski Road’s design alternatives were introduced during the first public informational meeting. As described in the video to the right, the design concepts presented were high-level concepts based on corridor, traffic and community needs. These concepts provide the project team with enough information to understand the general impacts associated with each alternative. The prepared alternatives utilize standard dimensions from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) design criteria to represent typical offsets, lane widths, sidewalk widths and shared-use path widths. Additional design details and impacts, including right-of-way and parking impacts, environmental impacts, as well as exact locations of the roadway, sidewalks and shared-use paths, will be evaluated during the next stage of the study, taking into account the public feedback on the concept alternatives presented.

Public Meeting #1 Summary
A total of 29 participants attended the meeting, including project team representatives, members of the Corridor Advisory Committee, and community members. The meeting included a presentation reviewing the study background, public outreach strategy and activities, existing conditions, developed improvement alternatives for consideration and next steps. Polling questions and a question-and-answer session were conducted to gauge the participants thoughts on various alternatives and to receive public input. Three themes arose from questions and comments that were submitted before, during and after the meeting: pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, property/environmental impacts and traffic, and roadway infrastructure and drainage.
For additional information on each of these themes and responses please see the following meeting summary, newsletter and FAQ page.
